The city of San Marcos Public Works Department in collaboration with Capital Area Rural Transportation Systems expanded SMTX The Bus Route 1 reach to include service to the Village Main of San Marcos, located at 215 S. Reimer Ave. The new service began July 10.

This new bus service expands access to public services located along the route, including offices located at the Village Main of San Marcos, such as the San Marcos Women, Infants and Children offices along with Any Baby Can.

Route 1 was split in this area into Route 1V—which will reach to Village Main and Texas State University’s Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) Park on one-hour intervals—and Route 1W along Wonder World Drive, which will have stops between Lowe’s Home Improvement and the Christus Santa Rosa-San Marcos campus occurring on one-hour intervals, according to the city.

Stops that both routes share will keep the 30-minute frequency but shift to 60 minutes when they break off to service the two separate routes, according to the city.

All SMTX The Bus routes operate Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and operate fare free.
