St. David’s HealthCare will invest $185 million for a new hospital in the Kyle area as part of a broad near-$1 billion initiative to expand in Central Texas. The market south of Austin is booming, and though there is an existing facility in Kyle, hospital officials want to ensure they can meet the growth and increasing demand, St. David’s President and CEO David Huffstutler said. The hospital system has been looking into a project like this for a number of years as the Kyle area continues to grow. The new hospital will be 160,000 square feet with a 24-hour emergency care department, inpatient and outpatient surgery, maternity and newborn services, and more. The hospital is slated for a late 2024 completion, though the hospital is still in the process of acquiring the land for it. www.stdavids.com
