The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter, located at 750 River Road, is set to begin $240,047.55 worth of renovations Oct. 25 after approval from the San Marcos City Council at the regular meeting on Sept. 7. With the help of Austin Pets Alive, PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption, and other organizations, the animal shelter was able to foster out or relocate animals in kennels that needed to be moved for renovations to take place.
To continue to serve the community, the shelter will repaint kennels, add a fresh coat of epoxy to floors and add sound baffles to help eliminate noise. The renovations will take place one building at a time, and though it is unclear when the renovations will be completed, the shelter will continue operations as normal.
