Kyle voters spent Dec. 13 at the polls to decide the next mayor as part of a runoff election.

What we know

As of 7 p.m. Dec. 13, Yvonne Flores-Cale led opponent Robert Rizo with about 51.03% of the vote.

Flores-Cale, a paralegal, began her campaign to establish a “solid, trustworthy connection” between the city and its residents. “I believe through continued hard work I can build trust in our government, which will provide our residents with an opportunity to focus on other matters in their lives,” she previously told Community Impact.

Rizo, who works in commercial property management, has prior experience serving as the District 2 and District 3 council member on Kyle City Council.

“There is no doubt Kyle is growing, and Kyle needs trusted, experienced leadership who knows how to operate efficiently and get things done for residents, and ensure we have the infrastructure necessary to manage this growth,” he previously told Community Impact. “This means investing in our roads and water supply and managing ongoing projects effectively.”

Some background

During the Nov. 4 election, Rizo led all candidates with approximately 42.28% of the vote, while Flores-Cale had about 32.02% of the vote, according to official results posted to the Hays County Elections website on Nov. 10.
