Hays County residents will soon have access to an expanded food bank with personalized options when Hays County Food Bank officials host a grand opening celebration Aug. 27 from 2-4 p.m.

In a nutshell

Located at the former Hays Co. Bar-B-Que restaurant, the new facility in San Marcos will provide more space for food storage and client services, according to a news release.

A new business model will also allow clients to select their items in a grocery store-style setting.

"Clients will now have the opportunity to make choices about which proteins, produce and shelf-stable items work for their household—empowering them to make selections that best fit their personal preferences, cultural traditions and dietary needs," the news release states.
