San Marcos City Council approved a resolution supporting an application for 4% Low Income Housing Tax Credits to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs on March 18.

In a nutshell

The proposed 348-unit multifamily project, dubbed Roers San Marcos Multifamily, would be located at 2409 S. Old Bastrop Hwy., according to agenda documents. The project would have 15 buildings that consists of one-, two-and three-bedroom units for individuals making 60% of the area median income or less.

The project will also offer an array of amenities such as a community club clubhouse, pool, fitness center and two children’s playscapes. Roers San Marcos Multifamily will also offer a shuttle at least three days a week and monthly transportation to community events, according to agenda documents.

Roers San Marcos Multifamily is also not seeking a tax break for local real estate taxes, according to agenda documents.

Council member Matthew Mendoza thanked the developers for where the apartments will be located.

“I am grateful to have affordable housing on this side of town,” Mendoza said.
