Hays County Sheriff


According to unofficial election results, Anthony Hipolito Jr. has been elected the next Hays County Sheriff. The Republican candidate received 52.69% of the vote, or 63,301 ballots cast. Democrat Alex Villalobos received 56,833 votes.

Hays County District Clerk

Amanda K. Calvert won the Hays County District Clerk election, receiving 52.48% of the vote, or 62,266 ballots cast. Opponent Phillip Muzzy received 56,374 votes.


Hays County Commissioner Precinct 3

Republican candidate for Commissioner of Precinct 3 Morgan Hammer won her race with 52.82% of the vote, or 18,109 ballots cast. Democratic candidate Rebecca Minnick received 16,176 votes.

Hays County Judge, County Court of Law No. 3

Democrat Elaine S. Brown won the county judicial election for County Court of Law No. 3 with 52.02% of the vote, or 62,047. Republican Robert E. Updegrove received 57,228 votes.

Hays County Sheriff


As of 9:30 p.m., Republican candidate Anthony Hipolito Jr. still leads the race for Hays County Sheriff with 52.95% of the vote. Democrat Alex Villalobos follows with 54,611 votes.

Hays County District Clerk


The race for the District Clerk seat shows Democrat Amanda K. Calvert still in the lead with 52.25% of the vote. Republican Phillip Muzzy trails behind with 54,743 votes.

Hays County Commissioner Precinct 3

Republican candidate for the Commissioner seat Morgan Hammer still leads the race with 53.10% of the vote. Democratic challenger Rebecca Minnick has 15,651 votes.

Hays County Judge, County Court of Law No. 3


Democratic candidate Elaine S. Brown leads the race for judge with 59,681 votes, 51.79% of total votes. Republican candidate Robert E. Updegrove follows with 55,564 votes.

Early voting results in the Nov. 5 general election have been released for Hays County. About 58% of the county's registered voters showed up to the polls during early voting for several races.

Hays County Sheriff


According to early voting results from the Hays County Elections Office, Republican Anthony Hipolito Jr. leads the race for Hays County Sheriff.

Hipolito has 52.52% of early votes with 54,089, and challenger, Democrat Alex Villalobos has 47.48% of the votes with 48,891.

Some context

Current Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler is not seeking reelection. Villalobos received the Democratic nomination to run against Hipolito Jr., who ran unopposed as the Republican candidate, in the March primary.

Hays County District Clerk

The Hays County Elections Office has released early voting totals for Hays County District Clerk.

Democrat Amanda K. Calvert leads the race with 53,598 votes. Republican Phillip Muzzy has 48,279 votes.

The Hays County District Clerk incumbent, Avrey Anderson, resigned earlier this year.

Hays County Commissioner Precinct 3

The Hays County Elections Office has released early voting totals for Hays County Commissioner Precinct 3.

Republican Morgan Hammer leads the race with 52.42% of votes, and Democrat Rebecca Minnick has 47.58% of votes.

Some context

The seat’s incumbent, Lon A. Shell has served as the Hays County Commissioner for Precinct 3 since 2017 and is not running for re-election.

Hays County Judge, County Court of Law No. 3

The Hays County Elections Office has released early voting totals for Hays County Judge, County Court of Law No. 3.

Incumbent Elaine S. Brown leads the race with 52.2% of votes, and challenger Robert E. Updegrove has 47.8% of votes.

Also of note

In early voting, there were 103,988 ballots cast countywide, which represents 55.76% of Hays County's 186,492 registered voters.

Totals from ballots cast on Election Day have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
