Shane Scott defeated incumbent candidate Mark Rockeymoore in the race for San Marcos City Council Place 4. Scott has 55.11% of the vote with 10,188 ballots in his favor. Rockeymoore has 44.89% of votes, and 8,299 ballots.

Results are updated as of 10:42 p.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9 if they were sent from outside the U.S.

The first return of unofficial early voting totals on Nov. 3 from Hays County show Shane Scott with an early lead in the race for San Marcos City Council Place 4.

Scott leads incumbent Mark Rockeymoore with a 54.54% share of all early votes. Rockeymoore has 45.46%

More than 98,000 county residents cast ballots by mail or during in-person early voting, which accounts for 64.24% of 152,840 registered voters in the county.
