Mayra Mejia defeated Nicholas Costilla in the race for San Marcos CISD's District 3 board position. Mejia has 60.14% of the vote with 2,573 ballots in their favor. Costilla has 39.86% of votes, and 1,705 ballots.

Results are updated as of 10:42 p.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9 if they were sent from outside the U.S.

The first return of unofficial early-voting totals Nov. 3 from Hays County show Mayra Mejia with an early lead in the race for San Marcos CISD board of trustees District 3.

Mejia leads Nicholas Costilla with a 60.55% share of all early votes. Costilla has 39.45%.

More than 98,000 county residents cast ballots by mail or during in-person early voting, which accounts for 64.24% of 152,840 registered voters in the county.
