About the new hires
Dahlstrom and Wallace Middle Schools and Johnson High School will get new assistant principals for the 2025-26 school year.
Anthony Ortiz will serve as Dahlstrom’s new AP, coming to the district with four years AP experience, one year as an instructional coach and 12 years of teaching. Ortiz previously worked at Bastrop ISD.
Jason Henke, who has served as instructional coach for the past three years at Wallace, will start as AP for the upcoming school year. He joins the new position with 14 years of experience.
Gabriel Reyes will be the new Johnson High School AP, coming with 15 years of AP experience. He also has three years of district director experience and three years in teaching. Reyes is coming to the district from Austin ISD.
Cynthia Zapata, who has been serving as principal of the HCISD Impact Center for six years, will be the new director of student services. She has previous experience as an AP at McCormick MS for three years and a testing coordinator for six years.
In the new position she will oversee issues regarding transfers, attendance, discipline and more.
