The increases are part of the 2020-21 budget approved at the June 22 board of trustees meeting.
The measure to give 2% midpoint raises means teachers who started in 2019-20 will make $48,142 with a bachelor’s degree, while a teacher with 10 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree will make $55,494. Midpoint means 2% comes at 20 years of experience, and that dollar amount is applied for all experience and education levels for teachers. It is an increase of $1,204 for teachers.
“I remember sitting in the audience a few years back ... we were at the bottom,” board trustee Will McManus said. “I’m glad to see where we are at.”
Board President Esperanza Orosco said the district has done better, raising salaries 6% in 2019 and 2% this year.
“Leadership has prioritized our employees,” Orosco said. “I’m proud of the district we are and the district we have become.”
