With nearly two weeks left to register to vote for the May 5 local elections, Alejandro Correa withdrew his candidacy for the Hays CISD board of trustee District 3 position.

Correa said he had to withdraw due to personal reasons.

According to Hays CISD Public Information Officer Tim Savoy, because of the legal deadline for a candidate to withdraw from the election passed on Feb. 23, Correa's name will still appear on the ballot. If Correa were to win, he would have several options, including declining or taking office.

As of March 26, Michael Sanchez and Valerie Hopkins are still in the race to run for the District 3 seat against incumbent Bert A. Bronaugh Jr.

Susan Gray, Will McManus and Michelle Cohen are running against each other for retiring trustee Holly Raymond’s at-large seat.

For San Marcos CISD, James McCutcheon is running against incumbent trustees Anne Halsey and John McGlothlin, both of whom serve in at-large capacities.

During the week of April 10-17, Community Impact Newspaper will host 30-minute Facebook Live interviews with the candidates. Voters are asked to submit question to the candidates at [email protected].

The last day to register to vote is April 5. Early voting beings April 23, and election day is May 5.
