With the filing period opening today for the next Hays CISD board of trustees election opening today, current HCISD trustee Holly Raymond announced that she will not run for a third term today.

In a news release, Raymond said she chose not to run again in order to focus on a new career opportunity with a nonprofit organization that provides services for children statewide.

Raymond was first elected to the HCISD board in 2012. During her tenure, Raymond was elected as vice president in 2014, and in 2016, elected as the youngest-ever president of the HCISD board.

Raymond will continue to serve on the board through the end of her term which ends in May.

"It has been an incredible and humbling honor to serve and give back to the students and educators of the district that has played such a pivotal role in shaping who I am, but now is the right time to pass the baton," she said in the release.
