Hawaiian Bros, which is known for Hawaiian comfort foods, will open its second stand-alone brick-and-mortar location in Texas at 1439 N. I-35, San Marcos, on June 8, according to a news release.

The first stand-alone location was opened in Kyle in May, but the restaurant also has Texas locations in Austin and Garland within other businesses. Hawaiian Bros has stores in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri as well, and the first was opened in 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Hawaiian Bros does not use freezers, fryers or microwaves, and food is prepared fresh daily. Notable menu items include the concept signature dish Huli Huli Chicken, which is marinated grilled teriyaki chicken, and Luau Pig, which is slow-roasted kalua pork seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt. The restaurant also offers tropical soft serve, Spam Musubi and a macaroni salad made with a secret blend of spices.

Prior to the official opening, the San Marcos location will host three preview events. The first, which is for first responders and medical personnel, will be held June 5 between 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; the second, which is planned for students, teachers, administrators and other education workers, is scheduled for June 5 from 5-8 p.m.; the third, which will be held for local businesses, is set for June 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

A grand opening will be held June 8 at 11 a.m., and the first 100 people will receive gift cards worth at least $25. One person will receive a gift card worth $500, while another will receive free meals at Hawaiian Bros for a year, the company said in the release.
