Jimmy Garland Warren collected around 6,000 antiques, from old store fixtures to early American furniture, over his lifetime.

About 1,500 of those old signs and store fixtures of every shape and size now line the walls of Centerpoint Station, a restaurant and boutique located across the street from the San Marcos Premium Outlets.
Warren’s daughter, Cheryl Warren Cuppetilli, said Centerpoint Station was born in 1993 out of a desire to showcase and sell the pieces.

“He really loved the old store signage and advertising,” she said.

She said her father wanted Centerpoint Station to feel like a general store, and within a year of opening, they started offering what Warren described as “just a good ol’ burger” with 100 percent certified Texas Angus beef from San Antonio and a homemade toasted bun.

“[The toasted bun] was a big deal to dad,” Cuppetilli said, laughing.

Warren’s family was also operating Sac-N-Pac, a chain of convenience stores based out of San Marcos, at the time. The family sold the business to Stripes Convenience Stores a few years ago, and 7-Eleven now owns the chain.

Cuppetilli, who graduated from Texas State University, worked full-time for Sac-N-Pac and had a knack for decorating, so she said she helped Warren get Centerpoint Station off the ground and has been running it ever since with her brother, Blair, and longtime manager Laura Thompson.

As the restaurant and retail space grew, the Warren family needed more space to accommodate guests, so Warren bought an old train depot he found during one of his antiquing road trips in New Baden, Texas, and put part of the dining area and kitchen in it.

The restaurant has since added a bakery and serves breakfast from 7-11 a.m. daily. The general store sells a variety of modern and trendy gifts, clothing, shoes, home decor, candles and accessories, and Cuppetilli said she is toying with the idea of online retail in the future.

Now, Cuppetilli said she is looking forward to changes in the area—particularly coming from the upcoming Kissing Tree residential development.

“We feel like we’re located in an awesome location due to the future growth of San Marcos,” she said.
