Kyle’s all-abilities skate park is on track to roll into this ranks when it opens as the fifth-largest skate park in Texas later this year.

Funded through a 2020 Kyle bond and a $500,000 contribution from Hays County, the $3.4 million project will offer recreation for everyone from skateboarders, rollerbladers and cyclists to scooter riders, wheelchair users and more.
When it opens this summer, city officials noted the park will be the fifth-largest of its kind and one of five statewide to feature an all-wheels design.
“This isn’t just a skate park,” Parks and Recreation Director David Lopez said. “It’s a space for everyone, regardless of age or ability.”

Kyle Chief Communication Officer Linda Klepper said the groundbreaking marked a major step toward expanding recreational opportunities and fostering active lifestyles in Kyle.
Yann Curtis, co-owner of design‑builder Spa Skateparks, said the skate plaza will feature 9,500 square feet of space to practice tricks, while the bowl and pump track area will include a pool-style bowl, an accessible bowl for wheelchair users and a pump track for all riders.
Bike racks, seating and more will be added for skaters, families and community events.
Kanten Russell—professional skater and director of design for New Line Skateparks, a design partner on the project—said these features will give Kyle an edge and draw more visitors.
How we got here
Kyle officials paused construction in spring 2024, terminating the initial $1 million design-and-build agreement with Spa Skateparks as new leadership evaluated the plan. Council restarted the project in September 2024 with a new construction contract and an expanded, all-wheels design.
Looking ahead
Parks and Recreation Director David Lopez said Gregg-Clarke Park will continue to be a cornerstone of Kyle.
“We’re building something that not only serves today’s residents, but will inspire and activate the next generation of athletes, families and neighbors,” he said.
