Hays CISD High School No. 4
In May, voters approved a $968.65 million package of five propositions addressing growth, safety, facility rehabilitation, fine arts and athletics, technology, and a new high school.
District officials anticipate the opening of a fourth high school for the 2029-30 school year. The school would have a capacity of 2,800 students, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
US Foods
US Foods, Inc. is expanding its existing food distribution and warehousing facility—located at 2150 Fire Cracker Drive, in Buda. The $65 million project is expected to be completed in 2027, according to a filing with the
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Kyle
Lehman High School additions and renovations
As Hays CISD continues to work on bond projects throughout the district, it continues to top the most costly projects registered with TDLR in the area. Included in those projects are renovations to Kyle's Lehman High School, with a price tag of $48.8 million, per TDLR.
Caroline at Marketplace
Developers will begin work on a $48.5 million multifamily development, with construction set to begin in spring 2026. The project, Caroline at Marketplace, will be built at 5542 Kyle Center Drive and is expected to wrap up in March 2028, according to filings with TDLR. The project includes seven apartment buildings totaling more than 383,000 square feet, including three four-story buildings, as well as a standalone clubhouse and pool.
San Marcos
Hilltop Housing expansion
As Texas State University prepares for a decade of rapid growth, it unveiled its 2025-2035 Campus Master Plan in May. Much of the plan includes housing for the growing student body. The university will build two new dorms and a dining hall in the Hilltop Housing complex, as part of the vision. The project will cost $227,562,447 and wrap in 2027, according to TDLR.
The McLain
Another large project in San Marcos is The McLain, an $88.5 million multifamily development, per TDLR. Construction is scheduled to begin in April at 420 North St. and is expected to be completed by August 2028. The project includes three buildings totaling about 345,000 square feet and will feature multifamily residential units along with associated parking and amenities.
