San Marcos CISD announced June 16 it is suspending its Rattler strength and conditioning summer workouts after an individual who was in attendance June 8 tested positive for the coronavirus.

The district said in a statement that the suspension of the summer workouts came from “an abundance of caution” for students and coaches.

According to SMCISD, the
precautionary measures it had in place limited the exposure of individuals around the participant that contracted the virus. Those who might have been exposed to the virus have been notified by the athletics department.

The district will continue to monitor the situation. The plan is to reopen the summer workouts July 6.
