A Little Shady, the planned spin-off restaurant of Shady Grove, is set to take root in Kyle.

What’s happening

Rusty Zagst, co-owner of the former Shady Grove, is teaming up with David Ryan to break ground on the Kyle concept.

A Little Shady will be a restaurant and bar, but further details have yet to be provided, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Construction is estimated to begin on Aug. 1 and last until Feb. 14, the filing indicates.

The background

Shady Grove was a restaurant, bar and live music venue located at 1624 Barton Springs Road, Austin, which closed its doors in 2020 after 28 years of operation.

After working as Shady Grove’s general manager, Zagst became a co-owner in 2012.

Community Impact reached out to Zagst for comment, but had not received a response by press time.
