After being designated a U.S. Passport Acceptance Facility by the U.S. Department of State, the university plans to open its new office in the Thornton International House on March 3, according to an email sent to Community Impact. Acceptance agents will process applications for U.S. passport books and passport cards at the office.
A closer look
The new office will serve not only students, faculty, and staff, but also residents of San Marcos and surrounding areas, according to the office's website. The facility will process applications for new, lost or stolen, and minor U.S. passports using the DS-11 form.
Fees for passport applications vary. However, the office will charge a $35 execution fee. Passport photos will also be available for $15, though applicants may choose to take their photos elsewhere as long as they meet U.S. Department of State guidelines, according to the office’s website.
The office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the last appointment scheduled at 2:30 p.m.
Once open, the office will accept appointments through its website and will not accommodate walk-ins. Appointments typically last about 30 minutes per applicant, according to the office's website.
