Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ announced a temporary closure on April 25.

The restaurant announced in a Facebook post that it will be closed until May 8 as the business undergoes management changes.

Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ opened first as a food truck in Austin in 2013. Owners Miguel and Modesty Vidal operated the business from two locations before opening their first brick-and-mortar in the Buda Mill & Grain Co. last year. Valentina’s serves smoked meat tacos and sandwiches.

“We’ve been at this for a long time, and we work really hard, but this last year has been harder than ever,” the Vidals said in the Facebook post. “Small business owners know that it’s never easy. For us, scaling our business from 600-square-feet to 6,000-square-feet has proven more than we can manage, and we recognize and admit to the many issues and challenges Valentina’s has had since we’ve moved. We can no longer continue to give our loyal customers subpar customer service and food.”

In the post, the Vidals thanked customers for their loyalty and said they were excited for a new chapter in which they could “get back to the heart of Valentina’s - food [and] family.”

The new owner of Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ has not been announced at time of publication.
