Two-minute impact

Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell announced Tesla is coming to Kyle at the annual State of the City address at Texas Old Town on Aug. 22.

Tesla will be moving into the Alliance Industrial Co. Kyle/35 Logistics Park at 24801 I-35, Kyle. Tesla will be taking over three of the five buildings in the development.

“[It will] be just under a million square feet of space,” Mitchell said. “What they are planning to do with it, if you've ever met Tesla, they're a little cloak and dagger on that. ... I don't want to speculate.”

Other details regarding the facility were unavailable.

“This is a done deal; we're excited to announce that this is coming,” Mitchell said. “We want to see Kyle continue to grow.”

Taking a step back

The annual luncheon gives city leadership the opportunity to revisit some milestones from the previous year while “setting the stage” for the upcoming year.

Mitchell discussed the city's state with an increase in sales tax revenue, a boom in development and a goal of reimagining the city of Kyle as more than just a bedroom community.

There are many ongoing developments, including Word Place, Kyle Crossing 2, Dry River District and more, that are slated to bring in a variety of retail and restaurants that have been highly anticipated, including:What else?

However, Mitchell also announced St. David's Healthcare selected the land for a new hospital in the city, which has been in the works for more than a year. It will be located next to the H-E-B at the corner of FM 1626 and Marketplace Avenue.

“I think the number, tentatively, in the first phase ... is around 200 jobs that will be created by St. David's,” Mitchell said.

The hospital will be seven stories, be a Level 2 trauma center and include around a $300 million investment overall from St. David's Healthcare.

A timeline for the hospital opening is unknown.
