New life has been breathed into the Mockingbird Room, an event venue at the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, following six months of renovations. Originally built in the early 2000s, a few years after the golf course itself was built, the Mockingbird Room was outdated and “very basic,” according to event sales manager Shay Douglas.

“It's been over a decade since there's been any renovations,” Douglas said. “We want to be that place where a bride walks in and goes ‘this is the place.’”

Improvements to the space include new wood flooring that replaced the old carpet and acoustic ceilings for better sound. There is also a new bridal suite for brides and their bridesmaids to get ready in as well as new arches for couples to stand in front of for their ceremony.

The venue also purchased 100 white ceremony chairs for weddings, and it also has tables and wood chairs for wedding receptions and other events that do not need to be purchased or rented from another vendor.

Another addition to the venue space is a room with new equipment to be utilized by caterers.

“There's just upgrades throughout to where that's gonna end up saving [renters] money,” Douglas said.

The space is available to rent for all sorts of events, not just weddings; the space is suitable for birthday parties, baby showers and graduation parties as well as corporate events, and the course has partnered with the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce for events.

There are vendors for catering, flowers, party planning and more made up of local businesses, including La Ola Pop Shop, Root Cellar and the Kyle Flower Shop. The Mockingbird Room and the Bluebonnet Room, an adjacent venue space, offer rentals for 75-220 guests starting at $1,499 for a full-day rental.

“I love this. Everybody loves planning parties and weddings. The majority of the time, I'd say, almost everybody there is happy,” Douglas said.
