Round Rock City Council approved to two contracts for road projects on Greenlawn Boulevard and Chisholm Trail Road at its May 22 meeting.

The details

Council approved a contract with Austin Engineering for the Greenlawn Boulevard project, which will include the construction of a roadway and bridge, as well as drainage, signal, light and utility improvements, from I-35 to SH 45.

Austin Engineering submitted the lowest bid of $13.9 million. Construction is expected to begin this summer and take approximately 14 months to complete.

What else?

Council also approved a supplemental contract for improvements to Chisholm Trail Road, bringing the total contract to $1.2 million. The city will reconstruct the road, creating a new urban roadway section as well as providing drainage improvements, pedestrian improvements and landscaping from Sam Bass Road to RM 620.

This additional contract with Freese and Nichols allows the contractor to assess the environment and get approval for a proposed culvert extension at the low water crossing over Brushy Creek, allowing people to walk between the north and south sides of the creek.
