Heritage Crossing, a connection between Kenney Fort Boulevard and Harrell Parkway, opened in Round Rock April 11. Located on the south side of Old Settlers Park, the new roadway is the most recent development in the larger park buildout project.

What residents should know

The connection allows drivers to enter Harrell Parkway and access the Rock 'N River water park and soccer fields quicker. Some roads near Old Settlers Park remain closed during construction, including part of Harrell Parkway.

For approximately the next seven months, the northern section of Harrell Parkway between Aten Loop and Old Settlers Boulevard will remain open to southbound traffic only.

Park facilities will stay open to the public, with some impact to entrance routes:
  • To reach the multipurpose field complex, visitors can enter from North Kenney Fort Boulevard.
  • To reach the soccer fields, cricket fields, disc golf, and Rabb pavilion and playground, visitors can enter from the Hwy. 79 and Harrell Parkway intersection.
  • To reach the baseball fields, softball fields and Yonders point, visitors can enter from Aten Loop or North Red Bud Lane.
  • To reach the tennis complex, apex fields and triple crown fields, visitors may use Harrell Parkway and must exist the complex through Aten Loop.
Visitors can also refer to this closure map for guidance.

About the project

Old Settlers Park began renovations in September, funded by 2023 voter-approved bonds. Upon completion, the park will have upgrades that include a new pavilion, stage and amphitheater, as well as a playground, expanded recreational areas, roadway renovations for safety and pedestrian crossings, pedestrian bridges, and improved sports courts.

The park spans hundreds of acres and offers a wide range of recreational activities, including disc golf, cricket, and baseball, softball and soccer facilities. Old Settlers is also home to the Rock 'N River, the Multipurpose Complex and is the venue for many city events. The buildout's expected completion is in 2027, but varies by project, according to the city.
