Construction on an extension to Wyoming Springs Boulevard in Round Rock began in December, and the city expects the project to take two years.

About the project

The road extension includes a four-lane divided roadway and shared-use paths from Creek Bend Boulevard to Old Settlers Boulevard, and extending over Brushy Creek. By offering an additional north-south route in west Round Rock, the Wyoming Springs extension is expected to reduce traffic congestion on Old Settlers Boulevard, Sam Bass Road and Creek Bend Boulevard, according to city staff.

The project will also connect the road’s shared-use paths to the Brushy Creek Regional Trail, running along Hairy Man Road.

This extension has been in the planning and design phase for the last five years, after receiving city council approval in August 2019. The project has also been part of the city's Transportation Master Plan since 1999, which considers current and future road infrastructure needs.

The $25.9 million construction project is funded by Transportation and Economic Development Corporation sales tax revenues.
