Downtown Round Rock roadways will be renewed through the city’s street maintenance program, with work set to begin this summer.
A majority of streets in the downtown area south of East Palm Valley Boulevard and north of McNeil Road are the subject of a maintenance contract approved by Round Rock officials April 13.
Round Rock Transportation Director Gary Hudder said the city will clearly communicate with downtown-area residents about the project and any need to relocate vehicles, as the area has many parking challenges.
This program allows city officials to identify city-owned streets in need of maintenance, to fill potholes, and repair crumbling sidewalks and driveway approaches, city staff said. The project was bid in March, with city officials awarding a $3,543,440.05 contract to Leander-based Bennett Paving Inc. April 13.
