A $53.1 million expansion of the St. David's Round Rock Medical Center bringing two additional floors to the large hospital is underway.
The additional floors will be home to a 34-bed patient care unit, four operating rooms and additional support spaces, according to an announcement shared by St. David's HealthCare on Nov. 8. This particular expansion is one of several planned as part of a larger $953 million capital investment announced in February.
"This investment in St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center allows us to continue offering exceptional care in our rapidly growing community. The additional floors will increase room capacity and provide more availability for specialty care,” said Jeremy Barclay, CEO of St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, in a release. “I am privileged to lead a team of dedicated health care professionals eager to serve the community, and it is compelling to hear patients speak of the extraordinary care they received. Because I strongly believe our team provides exceptional care, I want more people to experience this level of care when our help may be needed.”
Construction is expected to be completed in 2023, bringing the total height of the hospital building to five stories. Once completed, the hospital will have over 200 beds, 11 operating rooms and space for two additional rooms in the future, according to the Nov. 8 announcement. With growth driving the expansion, the hospital will also hire more than 60 new employees over the next two years.
