City engineers told council members the agreement would provide the city with 0.65 acres of HOA-owned frontage along Gattis School Road. The settlement includes $450,000 in compensation, most of which covers the relocation of the Lake Forest subdivision’s monument signs and related landscaping.
Under the proposal, the city will also install two underground 4-inch conduit sleeves beneath Lake Forest Drive so the HOA can reconnect electrical and irrigation lines to its rebuilt signs.
Staff noted that the expanded roadway will abut the existing backyard fences. The city is not planning to replace those fences, though future improvements could be considered through corridor enhancement programs.
Council unanimously approved the plan, clearing the way for construction on Segment 6, which was awarded last week.
