Unofficial polling information from early and Election Day voting shows Mingyuan "Michael" Wei garnered 59.32% of ballots cast, representing 45,807 votes. Challenger Jim Steele received 40.68% of ballots cast, representing 31,409 votes.
Wei highlighted the contributions of his campaign treasurer, Alice Yi, his content manager April, and his wife, as well as district voters at large, for supporting his pursuit of the board seat for Place 7.

About the candidates
Steele, a retiree with experience in IT program management, told Community Impact that his priorities, if elected to the board, include prioritizing students, smarter spending and safe schools.
Wei, a toxicologist and district parent, said his priorities include improving student readiness and accessibility for all students, especially those in special education programs, as well as the prioritization of physical security and emotional wellbeing in schools and increasing funding.
