Round Rock ISD awards over $800K to 89 teachers in incentive program
Round Rock ISD awarded physical checks to 64 of its 89 teachers who qualified for an incentive under the Teacher Incentive Allotment on May 7.
What you need to know
The district celebrated teachers who received designations from the Texas Education Agency for their performance in the 2022-23 school year, receiving $859,303. Fifty-six percent of teachers who were included in considerations for that school year received qualifying designations and incentives, Superintendent Hafedh Azaiez said.

Round Rock ISD eyeing teacher resident program expansion
Round Rock ISD administrators are exploring ways to expand a program that provides paid experience to students during their last year of study in an undergraduate program.
In April, Chief of Human Resources Eddie Curran said the district has not yet landed on a number, but is working to expand the program to greater numbers and potentially more campuses.
What you need to know
The RRock residency program will conclude its first year with the end of the 2024-25 school year in May. The program paired seven residents from Texas State University and Concordia University with master teachers at C.D. Fulkes Middle School, where they received hands-on classroom teaching experience.

Round Rock ISD seeking grant funding to provide firearm locks to community
The Round Rock ISD Police Department is seeking a grant from the Capital Area Council of Governments to fund the purchase of locks for firearms as part of a community firearm safety initiative.
What you need to know
RRISDPD Chief Ryan Urrutia told administrators in an April 17 board meeting that his department was seeking state funding to provide cable locks to community members, as part of its firearm safety education initiative.
Urrutia said the grant is competitive, and if awarded to the district, would cover the costs of purchasing firearm locks and printing firearm safety literature to distribute at community events.
