A majority of Round Rock ISD students will need to be on campus just a little earlier this upcoming school year, per a release from the district.

In a nutshell

RRISD elementary, middle and high schools will start five minutes earlier beginning with the 2023-24 school year, which will start Aug. 15, the release states. Start times for special and prekindergarten programs such as Pear and Apple sessions, Together We Can, VISTA, the Child Development Center, and Early Childhood Special Education, will not change.

In case you missed it

The RRISD board of trustees approved a new calendar for the 2023-24 school year that included five additional instructional minutes per day. The additional time creates a total of four days of banked instructional time in the event that the district must close due to inclement weather.

Who it's for:

The time changes will impact the following campuses:
  • Elementary schools: 7:35 a.m.-2:55 p.m.
  • Middle schools: 8:15 a.m.-3:35 p.m.
  • High schools: 9 a.m.-4:20 p.m.

  • Round Rock Opportunity Center: 7:25 a.m.-2:35 p.m.
  • GOALS Learning Center: 8:35 a.m.-3:55 p.m.
Keep in mind

The change in start time will also impact bus routes. Updated bus route information is available through the district's transportation website as well as the SMART tag system accessible to parents.
