What you need to know
This is the first step in the process of preparing the site for construction, said Bradley Dushkin, Round Rock's director of planning and development services.
To continue with plans to build a 223,285-square-foot warehouse on the property, Amazon representatives will meet with the city for a site development permit, he said.
About the project
Amazon first filed permits for the project with the city of Round Rock in October 2021, detailing plans for a distribution center and warehouse to serve the area.
The application shows that the property located at 2801 CR 172, Round Rock, is the proposed site for a new Amazon warehouse and distribution center. Additional details provided in the application state the structure will be at least 120 feet in height. The property was annexed into the city limits last year.
New proposals approved at that time include plans for a potential data center and substation.
The warehouse and distribution center alone is estimated to bring $250 million in real property improvements and roughly 150 to 200 jobs to the city, according to Jessica Breaux, Amazon's senior manager of economic development.
What else?
Dushkin said the southern portion of the property, which is also owned by Amazon, is still up in the air as far as what kind of facility will be built.
In addition to development of the main site, he said the e-commerce conglomerate also has a subdivision improvement permit to add turn lanes at driveways and traffic lights at the intersections with Hesters Crossing and Martin Avenue.
