Fire Station 1 of the Round Rock Fire Department, the first of three new stations funded by May 2023 voter-approved bonds, opened Nov. 14.
A closer look
Located at 1730 E. Old Settlers Blvd., the new station hosts a battalion chief and fire crew originally stationed at the Central Fire Station. This relocation will help better distribute response times in Round Rock, especially in the east side of the city, according to a city news release.
The central station, located at 203 Commerce Blvd., will still oversee administration for the entire Round Rock Fire Department.
What they’re saying
"Our top priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, and this project ensures we are prepared for both current and future needs," Fire Chief Shane Glaiser said in a news release.
What’s next?
Round Rock has plans to build two other fire stations, also funded by the May 2023 public safety bonds. The city will build Fire Station 10 near the intersection of Old Settlers Boulevard and Red Bud Lane. Officials have not announced a location for Fire Station 11 yet.
