The Pflugerville Police Department made 79 traffic stops and one arrest for driving while intoxicated between Aug. 21 and Sept. 7. The stops were the result of additional funds provided by the Texas Department of Transportation's Impaired Driving Mobilization grant.
The grant pertains to increased enforcement and monitoring for DWIs and driving the under the influence. The PPD received nearly $8,500 in funding from the IDM grant last year, per a Sept. 10 news release.
The IDM grants are used to aid traffic stops year-round, while the initiatives are centered around peak holiday seasons—such as Christmas, New Year's Eve, the Fourth of July and Labor Day. The PPD will conduct its next initiative in December, per the release.
