Round Rock ISD's reaction to the failed bond propositions of Saturday's election was posted to www.roundrockisd.org.

“We are fortunate to have the best teachers and educators in the state of Texas and in the nation at Round Rock ISD,” Superintendent Steve Flores said in the statement. “We will continue to serve kids and provide a world class service for our families.”

The unofficial election results included voter turnout equaling 10.5 percent. Opponents of the bond measure declared victory and said the bonds "failed because they deserved to fail."

“I want to thank our Citizens Bond Committees and Board for their efforts. I am confident we can continue to be the Destination District for Public Schools,” Flores said.

The statement said Round Rock ISD will "need to address funding and strategies for capital renewal projects, replacing outdated technology, and to accommodate crowded schools.

"Those next steps will be discussed at a future Board of Trustees meeting. The board will adopt its budget for the 2017-18 school year in June. It will set its tax rate in September."
