A major hospital could make Pflugerville its home after city council approved amending a 148.55-acre Planned Unit Development on Tuesday.
The vote was unanimous after the proposal’s second reading. The property is at the northeast corner of SH 130 and East Pflugerville Parkway, adjacent to the Falcon Pointe neighborhood.
City Manager Brandon Wade confirmed after Tuesday’s council meeting the city “has been visiting with a hospital, but I can’t say who.”
Wade said as discussions continue, he expects an announcement in favor of the hospital being built in Pflugerville.
“It’s the next big step for the city,” Wade said. “To be able to attract a hospital here shows that Pflugerville is a leading city in this area.”
Wade said the hospital will “bring numerous jobs” and other growth to the area.
“There will be more places to shop and eat to accommodate the daytime population,” he said. “We’ll have more homes and it will help the value of the homes currently in that area.”
The allowable uses for the altered PUD include convenience store with gas pumps, medical facility, hospital, medical office and traditional office uses without square footage limitations.
The council passed the change with a 4-0 vote.
