Phase 1 of a project to improve facilities at Lake Pflugerville, located along the northwest corner of E. Pflugerville Parkway and Weiss Lane, will begin Monday, June 28.

Because of the construction improvements planned for the project, the north side parking lot will be closed for about 6 months.

Information from the city states the beach area, trail, restrooms, Pflug Fun and the boat ramp will remain open, but visitors will have to walk from the south side of the lake to access those areas.

Rentals for the Lake Pavilion will be suspended until construction is complete, according to the city.

Improvements that are part of Phase 1 include the addition of 144 parking spaces to the north parking lot, expanded restroom facilities and improved park entrance access to the north parking lot.

Phase 1 construction costs of $1.55 million are coming from a $42.3 million parks and recreation bond passed by voters in November 2020.

City Council awarded the contract to Terra Path on April 27.
