The Pflugerville Veterans Advisory Task Force is collaborating with We Are Blood to host the America 250 Citywide Blood Drive, which will run from June 20 to July 5.
The details
The goal is to raise 250 blood donations in honor of America's 250th birthday.
Summer is one of the most challenging periods of the year for blood supply due to school being out and shifting routines, according to We Are Blood. Blood drives like this one help to fill the gap and keep Central Texas patients cared for.
The initiative is also aligned with America Gives, the largest volunteer effort in U.S. history, aimed at setting a national record for volunteer service in 2026.
“Military service members are willing and have given their blood for this country, and so to encourage community members to come together to give blood, it's like a full circle moment,” said Lissette Weldon, a member of the Pflugerville Veterans Advisory Task Force. “The point of this is service. We wanted to do something that would bring people together.”
