Pflugerville City Council approved the renaming of the original wing in the Pflugerville Public Library at its meeting May 27. The newly named Audrey T. Dearing wing honors a longtime patron of the library who passed away last year.
The history
Dearing contributed more than 40 years of service to the Pflugerville Public Library and community, including contributions foundational to the library today. She co-founded the Friends of the Library in 1981, a group that seeks to fund library programs and promote literacy and learning.
"It was a huge part of my mother's life, and I know she would be way past delighted to know this is happening," Denise Dearing said at the meeting.
