Construction could begin by the end of April on a set of improvements substantially increasing Hutto's water pumping capabilities.

At its April 6 meeting, Hutto City Council will consider awarding a $17.65 million construction contract to Associated Construction Partners for the project.

The project includes the installation of six new pumps at the frame switch pump station, which is expected to increase the station's pumping capacity from 2.16 million gallons per day to 20 million.

It will also include a chlorination system, generators and a 3 million-gallon ground storage tank at the station.

According to city materials, if the contract is approved, construction will begin in late April and be complete in August 2024. Funding for the project comes from certificates of obligation issued in 2022.

The improvements are part of the city's new water master plan adopted last December.
