Pflugerville ISD trustees solidified plans to provide a 3% compensation increase to teachers within the district Oct. 19, dependent on the outcome of a tax rate election.

What happened?

Trustees voted to award 3% increases to eligible district employees if the district's voter-approval tax rate election has a favorable outcome. The increases will be funded by a $0.07 addition to the tax rate, should voters pass the measure.

The backstory

In August, trustees called the third consecutive VATRE in recent years. The ballot language indicates that the district can use the additional funds to award up to 3% in compensation increases, but trustees had not decided on the amount to be awarded prior to the Oct. 19 meeting.

What's next?

If voters pass the measure Nov. 7, district staff said employees could expect to see the compensation increases reflected in their December paychecks.

What else?

Early voting began Oct. 23 and will run through Nov. 3. Additional election information is available here.
