Hutto City Council rezoned approximately 20 acres of land near Chris Kelley Boulevard and FM 685 from single family to general commercial at a Sept. 2 meeting.
Owned by concrete company Tex-Mix, the land is the site of an industrial ready-mix concrete plant. Tex-Mix requested the zoning change so it could convert the site into a commercial and retail center.
"We believe this will benefit the city of Hutto and provide useful services to the nearby neighbors," Tex-Mix representative Greg Gitcho said in a letter to city staff.
