A trade of two approximately 119-acre tracts in Pflugerville and Hutto's respective extraterritorial jurisdictions has now been formally approved by both cities.

Pflugerville City Council approved the trade at a May 10 meeting, while Hutto City Council approved it April 21.

The tracts to be swapped are nearly adjacent, and both lie just east of Rowe Lane.

Prior to the trade, a portion of a proposed 456-acre development called Lakeside Municipal Utility District No. 9 fell within Pflugerville's ETJ.

The primary reason for the trade was to bring Lakeside MUD No. 9 fully within Hutto's ETJ.

Materials from the city of Pflugerville indicate that because the tracts being swapped are of roughly equal size and will remain in the city's ETJ, the city expects the trade to have no immediate financial impact.
