The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is accepting comments on its 2023-26 Transportation Improvement Program through April 20, according to a press release.

CAMPO serves as the regional transportation planning organization for the area, including Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Burnet and Caldwell counties. The TIP includes projects regionwide that have funding and will be ready to begin construction in 2023-26.

The public comment period allows residents to give input on the proposed projects, including large-scale projects such as the I-35 expansion project, 183A Toll expansion, improvements to CapMetro lines and more, along with smaller projects.

CAMPO will accept feedback at in-person open houses and virtually through its online open house. There will be two in-person open houses for residents to give comments:
  • April 3 from 4-7 p.m. at CAMPO office, located at 3300 N. I-35, Austin; and
  • April 10 from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at The Junior League of Austin, located at 5330 Bluffstone Lane, Austin.
Following the open house April 10, CAMPO’s governing body, the Transportation Policy Board, will hold a public hearing on the TIP from 2-4 p.m. Action will be taken on the public comments at the May 8 meeting. Both meetings will be held at The Junior League of Austin.

Local jurisdictions get two opportunities annually to submit revisions to their TIPs, which can then be incorporated into the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan where applicable, according to the press release. Potential changes include the funding amount, project limits or project description.
