Nationwide gym chain 24 Hour Fitness announced June 15 it is permanently closing more than 100 of its gyms nationwide as it files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, including two locations in Northwest Austin. According to the company's website, 24 Hour Fitness will close its Parmer and Lake Creek locations at 12400 N. I-35, Austin, and 13802 N. US 183, Austin, respectively.

One Northwest Austin location of 24 Hour Fitness, located at 10616 Research Blvd., Austin, is scheduled to reopen by June 19, according to the company’s website.

In its June 15 statement, 24 Hour Fitness stated it will close locations that are either out of date or in close proximity to other locations in order to eliminate debt. 512-794-9151. www.24hourfitness.com
