T&C Sports' Town & Country Optimist Foundation broke ground on the first phase of the Kathy Manning Athletic Center on March 30, part of T&C's Next 50 Capital Campaign.
The details
The 40,000-square-foot KMAC facility at 13398 Morris Road, Austin, is slated to open this November and will include indoor basketball, volleyball and futsal courts, providing year-round opportunities for practices, games, camps, indoor training and competitions.
The facility is named after Kathy Manning, who founded T&C's basketball and volleyball programs.
Also of note
Donations made to T&C's Next 50 Capital Campaign go toward improvements across T&C's 90-acre campus, including the KMAC. Other campaign priorities extend to its existing outdoor facilities such as enhanced turf and irrigation systems, upgraded restroom facilities and parking lots, new field lighting, campus-wide Wi-Fi, tech charging systems, a children's playground, walking paths, a gathering pavilion and a new staff and sports meeting building.
What they're saying
“This is more than the start of construction,” said Todd Brooker, board president of Town & Country Optimist Foundation, in a news release. “It’s a visible sign of momentum and a promise to the next generation of families who will grow, compete, and connect here.”
