The Regal Arbor Cinema at 9828 Great Hills Trail, Austin, is now closed to the public. Owned by Cineworld Group PLC through Regal Cinema in Austin, the cinema showcased independent films and movies that were lower in budget than blockbuster films.

The closure is due to Cineworld Group’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing for some cinemas in the southern district of Texas, according to an announcement from Cineworld.

“The pandemic was an incredibly difficult time for our business, with the enforced closure of cinemas and huge disruption to film schedules that has led us to this point,” the announcement said.

The cinema’s last day of operation was Sept. 23.
