On May 18, St. David’s Health Care announced that it acquired nine FastMed Urgent Care centers and one MedPost Urgent Care center in San Marcos. The new clinics will be rebranded as St. David’s CareNow Urgent Care centers later in the year.

What happened?

St. David’s CareNow Urgent Care centers offer quick and timely care for nonemergency illnesses and injuries. They also provide general diagnostics, physicals and check-ups. St. Davids continues its health care expansion with these new purchases. This comes about four years after purchasing Medspring Urgent Care centers in 2019 with nine locations in the Austin area.

Quote of note

“These urgent care clinics will also provide additional capacity to safely care for patients as Central Texas continues to grow, filling the gap between primary care physicians and hospital emergency rooms,” said David Huffstuler, president and CEO of St. David’s Health Care, in the news release.

St. David’s CareNow Urgent Care has 15 facilities in Central Texas. Once the acquisition of the FastMed and MedPost care centers is completed, St. David’s plans on expanding its reach to include 25 urgent care clinics in the region.
