In August, the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport announced a series of new destinations and nonstop flights beginning this fall to locations both nationally and around the globe.

2. City plans relocation of homeless services hub from South Austin's Sunrise Community Church
Austin is looking to relocate a homeless services hub from the Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center to a new location off I-35 in South Austin.
“This property gives us a lot of potential to do a purpose-built navigation center," Homeless Strategy Officer David Gray said in an interview.

3. Tony C’s Pizza & Beer Garden and The League Kitchen & Tavern coming to Georgetown
TC4 & Co restaurant group is bringing new locations of Tony C’s Pizza & Beer Garden and The League Kitchen & Tavern to Georgetown in 2026.
The group was founded by Tony Ciola and Creed Ford in 2011, according to previous Community Impact reporting, and now owns five brands in the Austin area.

4. Leander ISD weighs closing 3 campuses
Ahead of a $20.2 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2025-26, Leander ISD administration has put forth three possible cost-saving pathways that could include closing down and repurposing Cypress, Faubion and Steiner Ranch elementary schools next year.
Despite a public school funding bill that sent $8.5 billion to Texas school districts, the bill requires the money be spent largely on teacher salary raises, school safety mandates and special education allotments.
“House Bill 2 just passed, and that money, as great as it was ... it was money that we had to spend in certain areas,” Chief Financial Officer Pete Pape said. “It wasn’t money to help with the deficit; it wasn’t money to help in any other areas.”

5. Singas Famous Pizza coming soon to Georgetown
New York native franchise Singas Famous Pizza is headed to Georgetown with a new location coming soon, according to the company's location finder.
The restaurant serves signature and specialty pizzas, wings, pasta, salad, sandwiches and more.
